What happens after I call or send the form?
A technician calls you back to set a time, the same day for a door that is stuck open or shut or has a car behind it, usually within a day otherwise. You are told who is coming. If the garage is on a rental, say so, and give the owner's or manager's number for the text approval.
What does the technician do on the driveway?
Disconnects the opener and lifts the door by hand, which says in ten seconds whether the springs are carrying the weight. Checks the springs, cables, rollers, track, hinges, sensors, seals and the opener's drive, and measures the opening for square if the door drags on one side. Then explains, in plain words, what is wrong and what it would cost to fix.
What is on the written price?
Each part by name, with the spring's cycle rating where springs are involved, the labor, and the total, with the service call shown as folded into the repair. For a new door: make, model, size, insulation value, color, windows, hardware, the opener if one is included, haul-off of the old door and the deposit, all on their own lines. For an opener: the repair figure and the replacement figure side by side when both make sense.
How long is the price good for?
A repair price holds for the visit; most repairs are done then and there with parts from the truck. A new door or opener quote holds for 30 days. No deposit is taken on a repair, and none on a door until you approve the quote.
Is anything not included?
Repairs found during the work that were not visible beforehand, such as a stripped opener gear discovered after the springs are replaced, are quoted separately and started only after you say yes. Cosmetic matching of a new section to a faded door is not promised. Anything to do with the slab or the garage framing is outside the trade and you are pointed to the right people.
Can I get a second opinion?
Please do, and compare the quotes line by line rather than by the total. Ask the other company for the spring's cycle rating, whether both springs are included, and for their insurance certificate, since Texas has no license to ask for.
