FAQ

Questions Lubbock asks us

Insurance and licensing, how fast, what it costs, the door that reverses, the door that screams, the door that drags, hail, landlords, permits, brands and the red cord: the short answers. Anything we missed, call and ask.

Are you licensed and insured?

Insured, yes: general liability and workers' compensation, certificate sent before the visit. Licensed, no, because Texas does not license garage door installers or repairers; there is no state license for anyone in Lubbock to hold. The state only regulates openers tied to alarms or that log entry, and we do not install those.

How fast can you come?

Same day for a door that is stuck open, stuck shut or has a car behind it, across Lubbock and the nearby towns. Usually within a day for everything else. Someone picks up at any hour and the technician calls back with a window.

What does a visit cost?

The service call is $75 to $175 in the 2026 guides and is folded into the repair when you go ahead. There is no separate after-hours rate. New-door and opener quotes are free and written.

What does a broken spring cost?

Spring hardware is $65 to $85 per spring and the installed repair $150 to $375 depending on torsion or extension and one spring or a pair. We replace as a pair. High-cycle springs cost more and last two to three times as long.

The door reverses before it closes. Is my opener broken?

Almost never. It is the photo-eye sensors near the floor, and in Lubbock it is usually dust on the lenses. Wipe both, check the lights are steady. If it continues, the brackets or wiring, which is a $110 to $200 visit.

Why is my door so loud?

Grit in the roller bearings and on the track, mixed with old lubricant into a paste. More spray makes it worse. The track is cleaned dry, worn rollers go to sealed nylon, and a light coat goes on the moving parts.

The door drags on one side. What is that?

Sometimes a roller or a bent track; often, here, the slab has moved and the opening is no longer square. We measure the opening first and tell you plainly if that is it, with a pointer to a foundation assessment rather than a new door.

Can you fix hail damage?

A dented section can be replaced when the door is still made; three or more dented sections usually make a new door the better buy. You see both numbers. Hail is often covered under a homeowner's wind and hail coverage, less the deductible; ask your agent.

Do you work with landlords?

Yes, a lot. Quote and photos by text to the owner, a yes by reply, after photos, one invoice to the manager. Move-out checks, keypad code changes and fall tune-up rounds for portfolios.

Do I need a permit for a new door?

Not for a like-for-like replacement in Lubbock, and Texas has no license for the trade. Ask for the insurance certificate and a written quote with the door's make, model, insulation and color spelled out.

Which opener brands do you work on?

The common ones, LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie and the rest, as any competent shop does. We are not a dealer for any brand and do not claim to be.

Can I just pull the red cord when the spring breaks?

Not with the door up; it will come down with nothing holding it. With the door down and the opener disconnected, two adults can sometimes lift a single door to free a car, but it is heavy. Call first.

Do you service the towns outside Lubbock?

Wolfforth, Slaton, Shallowater, Idalou, Ransom Canyon, Abernathy, New Deal and Buffalo Springs Lake, plus the farms between, at the same service call with no mileage charge.

Do you really answer at night?

Someone picks up at any hour and takes your details; a technician calls back with a window, the same night for a stuck door. Technicians run seven days a week.

Stuck door, snapped spring, or a sensor the dust finally beat?

A technician reaches most Lubbock addresses the same day, carries the common springs and rollers, and quotes the job on the driveway before any work. Landlords and property managers can approve by text.
