Repair cost

Garage door repair cost in Lubbock, Texas: the 2026 numbers and what moves them

Most garage door repairs in Lubbock land between $110 and $400, and the ones that cost more are a new opener or a door that should be replaced. Here is the whole price list from the 2026 cost guides, what pushes each line up or down on the South Plains, and how to read the quote you get on the driveway.

Close-up of a snapped torsion spring on the shaft above a garage door, a two-inch gap between the broken coils, fine dust on the shaft and bearing plate

Every number on this page is a 2026 range from a published garage door cost guide, for budgeting. The technician quotes your door on the driveway before touching it, parts and labor written out, and that figure is the price. Two things make Lubbock a little different from the national picture: dust shortens the life of rollers, sensors, seals and opener drives, so those small repairs come around more often; and hail does the panel damage that rust does elsewhere.

What moves the number here

Single or double, insulated or not. A sixteen-foot insulated door weighs twice what an eight-foot non-insulated one does, which means heavier springs, more rollers and more of everything. Spring cycle rating. A standard 10,000-cycle spring is the cheapest; a 25,000-cycle spring costs more today and lasts two to three times as long, which on a busy family door or a rental is the better buy. Dust contamination. When a spring or opener job finds the rollers packed and the track pasted, cleaning the track and replacing the rollers is added, and it is worth doing while the door is apart. Hail extent. One dented section on a current model is a section; three on a discontinued model is a door. Square. A door dragging because the slab has moved is not fixed by any item on this list, and we will say so rather than sell you one.

Repair or replace

An opener is worth repairing when it is under about fifteen years old, has safety sensors and the part exists; otherwise a quiet belt-drive unit with battery backup is the better money. A door is worth repairing when the sections are sound and the model is still made; a door with hail across three sections, a rotted bottom rail or no sensors is usually better replaced, and the quote shows both numbers.

How to read a quote

Ask for parts and labor written separately, the spring's cycle rating named, the service call shown as folded in, and, for a new door, the make, model, insulation value and color spelled out. Ask for the insurance certificate, because Texas has no license to check instead. A quote that is one lump sum tells you nothing and cannot be compared with anything.

Common questions

Is there an extra charge for nights and weekends?

No. The service call is the same range and goes toward the repair. A stuck door at night costs what the door needs, not a premium for the hour.

Why replace both springs when one broke?

They have the same cycle count. One new and one old leaves the door unbalanced until the old one goes, usually within months. A pair now is cheaper than two visits.

Are high-cycle springs worth it?

On a busy door or a rental, yes: two to three times the life for a modest premium. On a door that opens once a day, standard springs are fine.

Can I get a quote over the phone?

A range, yes, from this page. The real number comes from the driveway, because a door that will not lift might be a spring, a gear or a seized roller and they cost different amounts.

Does the price include hauling off the old door?

Yes, on a new door. Old springs and parts leave with the technician on any repair.

Will insurance pay for any of this?

Not for wear: springs, rollers, openers. Often for hail, under wind and hail coverage less the deductible. A vehicle into the door is usually the auto policy. Ask your agent; we supply dated photos and a written quote.

Stuck door, snapped spring, or a sensor the dust finally beat?

A technician reaches most Lubbock addresses the same day, carries the common springs and rollers, and quotes the job on the driveway before any work. Landlords and property managers can approve by text.
